For some clients, a smart home project begins with a new house. For others, it begins decades earlier with a memorable first experience. For this client, that experience was hearing the iconic Bang & Olufsen Beosound 9000 CD player for the first time in the late 1990s.
Having been a longtime Bang & Olufsen enthusiast, our client already knew who to call when he and his wife decided to make Arizona their full-time home. While we had worked with him at a previous residence, this Scottsdale project presented an opportunity to create something truly special. Now, integrating luxury audio, smart home automation, architectural lighting, and decades of beloved technology into one elegant and intuitive system.

One of the first challenges was evaluating the home's inherited automation system. This client had always relied on Lutron lighting control in his previous homes, but the Scottsdale property came equipped with a Control4 lighting system.
Rather than immediately replacing the existing infrastructure, our team carefully reviewed both options with the client. We demonstrated how the Control4 system could be configured to deliver the same intuitive experience he had grown accustomed to with Lutron while preserving the home's existing investment.
The result was a customized smart lighting solution that provided familiar operation while seamlessly integrating with the home's broader automation ecosystem.
This project extended far beyond a simple system transfer.
As multiple areas of the home underwent renovation, we developed a complete technology roadmap that included:
Every element was designed to work together through a single, easy-to-use control platform.
One of the most unique aspects of the project was the transformation of the home's foyer into a dedicated art gallery.
Showcasing historic and colorful artwork requires more than standard lighting. Our team designed and installed a custom Kable Lite lighting system that highlights each piece with precision while preserving the overall aesthetic of the space.
The result is a gallery-quality environment where artwork becomes a focal point, enhanced by carefully engineered lighting that reveals color, texture, and detail.
Because this client's introduction to Bang & Olufsen began with the legendary Beosound 9000, we knew incorporating this iconic piece into the new home was essential.
Our team sourced a near-mint Beosound 9000 CD player along with a matching pair of wine-red Beolab 4000 loudspeakers. These classic products not only celebrate Bang & Olufsen's design heritage but also integrate seamlessly with today's modern audio technologies.
This combination allowed the client to enjoy the nostalgia of a beloved system while benefiting from contemporary performance and control capabilities.
In the primary bedroom, the goal was straightforward: create an elegant entertainment experience that was incredibly easy to use.
The solution featured:
The result is a sophisticated viewing and listening environment that complements the room's design while minimizing visual clutter.
The media room presented an opportunity to combine state-of-the-art Bang & Olufsen performance with cherished legacy components.
The centerpiece is a Beosound Theatre paired with a 65-inch television mounted on a table stand. We integrated the room's existing in-ceiling speakers and the newly sourced wine-red Beolab 4000 speakers to create a dynamic and immersive audio experience.
Perhaps the most unique feature was incorporating the client's beloved late-1970s Sony AM receiver, a component he has owned since new.
To create visual harmony between old and new, we selected a custom wood grille for the Beosound Theatre that closely matched the wood finish of the vintage Sony receiver. The result is a room where modern innovation and personal history coexist beautifully.
The crown jewel of the project is the great room.
This space required a custom-engineered solution capable of delivering exceptional performance within challenging architectural constraints. After extensive planning, detailed renderings, and pixel-perfect design work, we developed a fully integrated entertainment system featuring:
Every component was carefully positioned to maximize both aesthetics and performance.
The final installation fills the large room with rich, immersive sound while maintaining the clean, elegant design language Bang & Olufsen is known for. More importantly, the system remains remarkably simple to operate.
With a single remote, this client can switch between sources, adjust volume, control lighting scenes, and manage motorized shades, all from one intuitive interface.

This Scottsdale project demonstrates what is possible when exceptional design, advanced smart home technology, and timeless Bang & Olufsen products come together.
From gallery-quality lighting and whole-home automation to vintage audio restoration and cutting-edge entertainment systems, every detail was tailored to support the client's lifestyle while preserving the products and experiences that matter most.
The result is more than a smart home. It's a living space where art, technology, and simplicity work together seamlessly, creating an environment that is as beautiful as it is functional.
